Setting up business with digital mail scanning Posted in General

Hi All,

I'm just starting out in the process to become a digital nomad, and looking into how to best setup my business so that (1) I can setup in a state with no state income tax and (2) have my mail digitally scanned so I don't need to have someone keep an eye on my mail for me.

Have any of you setup your business in this way? If so, would you be willing to give some tips on what worked well or what you'd do differently?

Thanks, Kevin

I don't think you can get away with not paying tax. If you have your own business you will be paying tax in the country where the business is registered.

Also there's a company in the States called Traveling Mailbox (https://travelingmailbox.com) and they offer email scanning, forwarding etc.

Hope this helps :)

Welcome to the club!

There's quite a bit to learn about the tax aspects of being a digital nomad.

Here's a good article to start with: http://ustax.bz/tax-finance-digital-nomads/

Then, I have a an online course that shows digital nomads exactly how to best structure their business: http://ustax.bz/courses/tax-savvy-expat/

Thanks, Monika. I know I'll have to pay Uncle Sam, my interest is incorporating in a state where I won't need to pay state level taxes. I appreciate the feedback about Traveling Mailbox!

Stewart, thanks for this. I was following another thread of yours - the tax AMA. All very valuable. As I grow, I might invest in your freelancer tax course. Cheers
